PANALO NA NAMAN ANG PINOY! MALAKING karangalan ang dinala ni Jeremie Antiporda noong Agosto 2006 sa Pilipinas dahil sa pagwawagi niya bilang Overall World Champion for Vocals (Solo, Senior Category) sa World Championships for Performing Arts sa Hollywood. Si Jeremie ang kaisa-isang Pilipino mula sa 10 na Filipino contestants na nag-qualify sa All-Star Finals.
In August 2006, Jeremie Antiporda bagged the Female Overall World Champion Award For Vocals (Solo) at the 2006 World Championships of Performing Arts held at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California. She was also the only one among the 10 FILIPINO contestants who made it to the ALL STAR FINALS for the VOCALS SOLO Senior Category. Last year, the Philippines' Jed Madela won the Grand Champion Performer of the World Award.
The competition was held over a one-week period at Burbank, California and was attended by more than 4000 people from all over the world. According to the organisers, this year was the toughtest in its history with average scores beating previous records.
Jeremie was among the TOP 5 finalists to the ALL STAR FINALS VOCALS SOLO (SENIOR) category -- competing against a Jennifer Holiday-sound alike from the USA (who eventually won Grand Champion Performer of the World), a powerful Gospel Singer from Jamaica, an opera performer from Kazakhstan, and a dynamic Contemporary Song artist from Trinidad and Tobago. These 5 vocal acts were among the 30 that made it to the Finals out of around 4000 entries.
Jeremie and the contestant from the USA were the Female OVERALL World Champion for Vocals (Solo).
THE ONLY FILIPINO AND ASIAN ALL-STAR FINALIST FOR VOCALS SOLO
Jeremie was the only Filipino and Asian singer (in the SENIOR category, ages 16 and above)who made it to the Finals Vocals Solo (Senior Category) this year. Jeremie competed against Jonalyn Viray, Brenan Espartinez and Jennifer Bautista in the pre-Finals Qualification.
Those who made it to the ALL-STAR Finals were Jeremie Antiporda (for Vocals Solo, Senior), Jonalyn Viray/Brennan Espartinez (for Vocals Group (not solo), Senior Category), Kim (for Vocals Solo, Junior) and Cercado Sister (for Vocals Group, Junior).
HOW THE CONTESTANTS WERE JUDGED
The Finalists were chosen based on the performance during the Third Round of Elimination --popularly called the OPEN COMPETITION which pitted against each other all those who won the "Champion of the World" awards across various ages and genres.
To qualify for the Finals Vocal Solo (Senior)Category, Jeremie had to go through four rounds of elimination over a period of 5 days.
In summary:
Round 1: To determine recipients of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals (per age group and per genre)
Round 2: To determine awardees for Champions of the various genres and those who will qualify for the semi-finals (per age group and per genre)
Round 3: OPEN competition. Battle of the Champions to determine who will qualify for the All-Star Finals (across all age groups and all genres)
Round 4: ALL-STAR FINALS to determine Grand Performer of the World

ARTIST BACKGROUND: Jeremie is the daughter of Paul and Evangeline Antiporda. She was born in Manila and started singing at the age of four. Her career in the music industry started when she won the Ms Yamaha Music Mate Star of the Year Award in 1993. Shortly after, she launched her self-titled album "Jeremie" with BMG Records Pilipinas. She performed in various concerts and on TV before moving to HK, where she is currently based.
She has performed in theater -- recently landing the lead role of Aouda in Faust's World Premiere of AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts' Lyric Theatre in March 2006. Jeremie received strong acclaim from the South China Morning Post for her delightful performance and powerful voice.
In 2005, Jeremie spent months in New York with CAP21's Musical Training Program to train with leading Broadway actors, dancers, musicians and directors. Prior to that, Jeremie trained extensively with the HK Academy for Performing Arts and with the HK Theater Federation. Arrangements are currently being made for her to record an album internationally.
